"Too much of a good thing is a very good thing," says Michelle Roy who has proven that there's no such thing as over-accessorizing! Whether you choose to wear one of her Swarovski Crystal Flower Clips or a 24 Karat Gold-dipped Leaf, Michelle encourages people to "take a chance to be bold and beautiful with multiple layers around your neck." She professes that, "Your body is your temple so adorn it with things that make you happy!" The inspiration for Roy's trend-setting collections comes from an affinity she has for the flowers from her native town of St. Paul, Minnesota. "Among all things, flowers alone have the power to simultaneously evoke the innocent and the sensual," Roy says. "I believe that's why people respond to them so immediately-they strike a chord in every person young or old, male or female." After inheriting an impeccable sense of style from her seamstress mother, Roy uses those talents today to create beautiful pieces worn by people worldwide.

Michelle's first fashion venture, Baby Dolz, became a sensation in the early 90's after she affixed a silk flower to a baseball cap for her then six-month-old goddaughter to protect her from the sun. After countless people stopped her on the street asking where she had purchased the hat, she knew it was time to expand her business. Michelle's tiny sparkling Hair Gems soon struck the fancy of the American public and her business took off. In 2000, Roy created her eponymous line of bejeweled flowered hair accessories, which rocketed to popularity after stars such as Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore, and Drew Barrymore were photographed wearing them and appeared on the covers (and in the pages) of magazines such as Elle, Star, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, People, and In-Touch. When her pieces were featured on "Extra," "The Today Show," "Good Morning America," "Desperate House Wives," and "Summer Land" orders came pouring in from around the world. "I hear time and time again from customers who have been stopped on the street by people inquiring about my pieces," Roy explains. "I put my heart and soul into everything I create and to have people respond to that is a wonderful feeling!" Consumers have definitely responded to Michelle's collections with daily inquiries from customers and vendors alike asking about "what's next."

Her fascination with cultural arts from around the world along with an appreciation for beautiful craftsmanship and handwork combined with a passion for travel, have inspired the very core of Michelle's collection. On any given day she can be found in her Beverly Hills studio creating new and exciting pieces that she hopes inspire and please the senses. Her "Wish Upon a Star" collection encourage those who wear it to "always keep your spirits high, like a diamond in the sky" and "When in doubt, turn to the moon at night, to find love, warmth and pure delight." While her pieces are both trend-setting and beautiful in every detail, the messages they carry are as bright as the jewels that cover them.

“Feeling great about yourself is important…giving back is essential” says Michelle, who has created several lines in her collection whose proceeds benefit various charities. Her Magnolia Collection of handmade silk flowers, worn by presenters at the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, benefited the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. The Angel Wings collection benefits Project Angel Food who delivers free & nutritious meals to men, women and children suffering from HIV/AIDS or other life threatening illnesses and the Breast Cancer Bow Apparel line, where 20% of the proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure. “I love the idea of wearing something beautiful and doing something beautiful at the same time”, Roy says and adds, “why not wear your support in style!”

On the heels of the success of Michelle Roy Designs collections at retailers throughout the country, she decided to open her own boutique to meet the demand of local and visiting clientele. Located on popular Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills, protected behind a peaceful courtyard, the boutique features jewelry, clothing and a variety of accessories Michelle has hand-picked especially for her store. Many days her Chihuahua, Pepe, greets customers at the door wearing his very own angel wing (doggie) sweatshirt! “Just because you’re a dog doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish!”

Whether it’s a gold dipped leaf or four leaf clover, a diamond studded skull necklace or a sweatshirt carrying Angel wings on its back, every Michelle Roy Design incorporates great personal style with long lasting utility. It is her passion and drive combined with her warmth and wisdom that has enabled Michelle to become the success that she is today by doing the things she’s loved for a lifetime.

Nicole Richie

Nicole Camille Escovedo was born in Berkeley, California, on September 21, 1981. Her biological parents were Peter Michael Escovedo, a member of Lionel Richie's band and brother to '80s pop percussionist Sheila E., and an anonymous backstage assistant. At the age of 3, for financial reasons, Nicole moved in with her father's bandmate Lionel and his then-wife Brenda Harvey-Richie. Six years later, Richie officially adopted Nicole. There are plenty of privileges to being raised in affluent circles. Nicole's formative years were spent at Los Angeles' prestigious Buckley School, where she met and befriended Paris Hilton, the heir to the Hilton empire. But money is also often synonymous with the fast lane, and as a teenager Nicole began partying hard and experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Following her high school graduation in 2000, she decided to go to college. She enrolled in the University of Arizona, the same school as pro basketball player Luke Walton and actress Heather Blair. Nicole dropped out after two years. At this point, with the influences of her youth still fresh in her mind, Nicole decided to become a musician. She founded the rock band Darling with model Josie Maran and socialite sisters Soleil and Sofia Alberti. On her own and on the loose, Nicole never broke out of the pattern of her teenage years. In February of 2003, the police pulled her over in Malibu. She was questioned and it was soon discovered she was driving with a suspended license. Upon searching her Mercedes-Benz, police found heroin in the car and Nicole was immediately arrested. She later plead guilty to all charges. Nicole was sentenced to probation and ordered to attend a drug rehabilitation program. Nicole was first signed on to The Simple Life as a replacement for Paris' sister Nicky, who was approached by FOX executives, but wasn't interested in participating. The show aired in December of 2003 and was successful enough to justify two sequels (so far...): The Simple Life 2: Road Trip and The Simple Life 3: Interns.
