Kelly Rowland (born Kelendria Trene Rowland on February 11, 1981) is an American recording artist, songwriter, dancer, actress and television personality. The success of the all-female group Destiny's Child is well-known, as hits like "Jumpin', Jumpin'," "Survivor" and "Independent Women" reaped astounding album sales, Grammys and general success from 1997 to 2002. Rowland was the first out of the gate after the trio took time off to do solo projects, making hits like "Dilemma" and "Stole." Her debut album, Simply Deep, was released in October 2002, and she has also tried her hand at acting -- most recently in 2003's Freddy vs. Jason.
In 2011, Rowland joined the judging panel on the eighth series of the British reality television competition The X Factor. Rowland's work has earned her several achievements, including four Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with Destiny's Child. She has been honored by ASCAP and Essence magazine for her contributions to music.
