In late 1995, a local newsstand employee named Paul Frank began making wallets to promote his band. Made out of scrap vinyl with logos traced from 1950's lettering books, the individually customized wallets became so popular in Paul's hometown of Huntington Beach, California that he soon found himself consumed with their creation (the incipient Paul Frank accessories line).
One day Paul offered to make Ryan Heuser, a fan of Paul's music, a wallet. The two knew each other only in passing, but Heuser was so touched by Paul's gift that a fast friendship developed between the two and Paul Frank Industries (that's serious stuff: Paul Frank clothing, Paul Frank accessories and Paul Frank watches all rolled into one) was born. The rest is history.
Paul Frank became an unconventional worldwide success. Led by its bright color palette, vinyl fabric, and unique sensibilities, the company has attracted an almost cult-like following of teens and twenty-somethings that love to wear Paul Frank clothing and accessories (and might we add Julius, Clancy, Skurvy, Worry Bear and all the rest) and tell time with their sweet and sometimes scary Paul Frank watches.
